New York City, United States of America

In New York, Ursula – one of the world’s most senior humanitarians – heads out on her morning ritual

Ursula Mueller is the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator in the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Prior to her current role, she spent over 30 years working in international affairs, global issues and development financing.

Ursula is also a member of a running club, finding a little quiet in the heart of a bustling city and a bit of calm and solidarity with colleagues in the midst of a busy week. We follow her on her morning run around Central Park. She speaks of the similarities between running/training for a half marathon and the qualities needed for good leadership in the humanitarian sector.
